When busker Giuseppe finds the green violin after a shipwreck, he doesn't at first think that it will help him escape-from his horrid padrone who took him from his home in Italy, to the fear of the dark depths of the rat cellar.
While doing this, he meets Frederick, a clockmakers apprentice, striving to become a clock maker himself, but can he complete his special project that will help him achieve his dream job?
Then Hannah, a lowly maid in a local hotel, faces the problem of earning her family some money. While her father is ill, does her strange new mistress hold the key that will help all three children unravel the secrets of the mysterious missing treasure that Hannah and Giuseppe need, each for their own good?
I would rate this book 9 out of ten, as I think the author described the character's personalities well and captured the essence of adventure magnificently well.
I would reccomend this book for ten to fourteen year olds, as it has wonderful vocabulary and has a lovely adventurous theme to it.
Thank-you for reading another of my posts, and I hope you will enjoy those to come.
